makin' it in the mommyhood - the friendship bag
it was one of my best friend's bday recently and i couldn't resist trying my hand at the fabulous rachel's (from the blog " p.s. i quilt") friendship bag. i don't know what was up with me but i really didn't feel up to dragging out my machine that day so i hand sewed and quilted the whole darn thing. maybe not the smartest move in the world, but i think it turned out ok for a newbie quilter who had to use some of her stash, which included some vintage pillowcases - love those!
the bag was super fun to make and the instructions couldn't have been any easier. i get a kick out of the fact that i now know how to make box corners and a really simple way to construct a tote. i plan on making a bigger version for myself later. the only thing i changed from rachel's version was that i added the extra strip of material at the top. it's not a very big bag and i felt like it looked way too small without it. i think it's the perfect size for putting a waterproof material inside for a lunch sack as well! too cute! thanks for a great tute rachel!
have any of you made this bag? what are you currently working on?
