knitters dilemma - and the winner is..........

last week i posted a poll to help me & my sister camille choose which hat to make for her bday this month. i had a lot of fun with this post and enjoyed reading all of your suggestions and comments! thanks for voting everyone!

the polls have closed and the winner is.......................

sideways grande cloche by laura irwin from boutique knits

in second place.............

robin's egg blue hat from rachel iufer

and in third place.....................

slide slip cloche by laura irwin from boutique knits

the funny thing about the poll was that the winner is actually a hat i have been dying to make for myself and finally got the book from the library, 3rd place is actually from the same book "boutique knits: 20+ must have accessories" by laura irwin. it's a gorgeous book filled with lots of yummy must knit patterns! i recommend it! you can also read more about the author laura irwin on her blog .

needless to say i will be making the first place hat for myself and prolly the other two as well, heck why not the whole poll.....i love hats!

the hat in 2nd place has been on my must knit list for ages and i adore it. i had chosen it as my top pick for camille. i was quite surprised though when i did show camille the poll and the results, her choices were way different than most of ours were and from what i had chosen. her top pick was for "pasha" by one of my fave knit designers (and our first mom in the mommyhood) jane richmond, second to that was the "star crossed slouchy beret" by natalie larson and then the "robin's egg blue" hat from rachel iufer, which i call the banana republic hat.

now i wanted my baby sis to be happy so i ended up going along with her choice and making pasha for her and decided to whip up the sideways grande cloche for myself. i will be doing a post later this month with my sister modelling the finished hat and a giveaway so stay tuned!

i hope you all got some great new hat pattern ideas and maybe the post inspired you to try knitting and give one of them a go. it's a very rewarding, addicting, soothing and relaxing craft if i must say so myself.

did you decide to make any of the hats and if so which one did you choose?
