SEWING || PATTERNS ON MY CUTTING TABLE
It's felt like eons since I last sewed. With my back injury sewing has taken way longer to get back into. I'm dying to get back on my machine and whip up a few new additions to my summer wardrobe.
Even though I haven't sewed them yet, I've got the following patterns bought, printed and almost ready to start!
// THE SOUTHPORT DRESS by True Bias
I love this dress. I think it's something that I can see effortlessly fitting into my wardrobe and even filling a few spots with. It's comfy, easy to wear and I love the option of the two lengths that the Southport Dress offers. I'm going to go with the short version first and then aim to make at least one maxi one as well. I just need to order some fabric as my stash doesn't have enough to fill my maxi length dreams at the moment. If you haven't made a True Bias pattern yet I recommend them. I'm 95% done a Sutton Blouse and really enjoyed making it. I'll be sure to do a review on the blog as soon as I get it hemmed.
You can also find all the posts for the Southport Dress Sew-Along on the True Bias blog HERE.
// MORRIS BLAZER by Grainline Studio
I've been looking for a great blazer pattern for years. When Jen of Grainline patterns released the Morris Blazer I knew that it was the "one". I'm super smitten with it's modern shape and cool vibe. Bonus is the pattern can be made from a variety of fabrics - both woven and knit! Yes please! I can't wait to make a few for my wardrobe! Grainline Studio patterns are some of my very fave. Easy to follow with fabulous fit and style.
If you're looking to make a Morris Blazer Jen's running a sew a long on the blog right now and the latest post is filled so much helpful info! It's all about choosing fabrics and there's even videos! Don't miss it!
// BRUMBY SKIRT by Megan Nielsen
I adore pockets. Put some fun ones on a skirt that's got style and versatility and I'm in love. Megan Nielsen's newest pattern The Brumby Skirt fits that bill! Tons of options, lots of customization and so many styling options! I love Megan's patterns for this! Besides being great patterns I adore the graphic design of her brand and patterns. Just as pretty to look at as they are to sew.
Megan's also just launched a fab new app for her pattern company! Now you can view your patterns in an interactive app filled with great features! And it's free! Go download yours today - you can find it HERE or read more on her blog HERE! I've already been using mine - it's super handy!
// INDIESEW PATTERN + FABRIC SHOP
And because I just can't get enough of dreaming of my "potential" handmade wardrobe I had to let you guys all know about the newest development from one of my fave company's in the sewing biz - IndieSew!
They recently announced that they are now selling fashion fabrics as well as patterns! HElloooooo! Can we just say awesome!!!! I love the IndieSew site (they even sell our communter cowl pattern), blog and all the awesome things they have to offer. It truly makes buying patterns fun and a heckuva lot easier in my opinion.
IndieSew won't just be selling any fabrics. They have tastefully curated a small stock of high quality apparel fabrics that are suited perfectly to the patterns they carry. Now when you look up the fabrics you can see just more than a tiny swatch! You can zoom in onto the fabrics to see up close, they've also photographed each item with a ruler so you can view the scale of the print better. And they've photographed the fabric draped over a dress form so you can see how the fabric would fall sewn up into a garment. They also list tons of information and descriptions about the fabrics.
On IndieSew I love seeing others projects, all the helpful tips and techniques posts, great pattern descriptions and writeups, searches, fabric suggestions and more! It's a great format and I think they are doing a wonderful job making it a one stop shop for sewing enthusiasts. They are not your typical pattern site and they are def not to be missed if you sew. If you haven't been I recommend popping on over to IndieSew! Their summer collection is out now featuring some great indie pattern companies and a fun blog tour!
Now it's your turn! What patterns do you have ready to get sewing? Are there any new ones you're just dying to sew up? Have you made any that I've shared above? Let's chat sewing ladies!
