HARO SHAWL - NEW PATTERN

"Sometimes in the waves of change we find our true direction."

MEET HARO

HARO is the newest shawl pattern of mine for this year's Hinterland Straits 2017 collection! Haro is meant to be curled up and snuggled into. It's the shawl you reach for on blustery days, for seaside strolls & chilly nights, and on days you just need a knit hug.

HARO features a half-hap shawl construction. Worked in two colours of Hinterland Range, the Haro shawl is a stunning composition of openwork, texture, and colourshifts. The fabric of this generously-sized shawl is soft and cozy, with repeated stripes that create beautiful swirls reminiscent of cascading waves when wrapped for warmth.

HARO'S unique construction comes together with separate sections for borders and edges worked in different directions. This clever engineering makes for a dynamic and engaging project.

ABOUT HARO

Haro is knit from Hinterland's lovely yarn - Range. This unique blend of fibers makes for a knit that is light to wear yet warm. Haro is knit on large needles at a looser gauge and is a quick and interesting knit filled with texture - yum! The pattern includes detailed construction and measurement schematics with special links & instruction to aid you through the process of knitting a half-hap shawl.

Haro is relaxing - yet interesting. My favourite kind of knit. The kind you can lose yourself in at the end of a long day. And trust me with Haro I did. I was sad when it was finally off the needles. I think I need at least 1 -2 more in my life. If you know my designs you know I love designing patterns that one can lose themselves in, relax, and feel inspired. I think it feeds the soul.

HARO has been thoroughly tech edited and tested at all skill levels. It includes full written instructions as well as charted instructions for that gorgeous knit-on edging. I think that's my favourite part! I'll be sharing some of the gorgeous versions our testers made soon. A big thank you to them for, as always, being an endless sounding board and for allowing me to make my patterns as good as they can be.

YARDAGE FOR HARO

Yardage Note: If using a different yarn than listed below you may require extra yardage based on your gauge. This is due to the uniqueness of the fiber and resulting gauge of Hinterland Range after blocking.

Hinterland Range, 50% Canadian Rambouillet & 50% Alpaca), 198yds/181m, 112g/3.95oz per skein, worsted

  • 3 skeins in MC, shown in Truffle, or approx 494yds/452m of worsted weight yarn
  • 2 skeins in CC, shown in Snow, or approx 375yds/342m of worsted weight yarn

WEARING HARO

Due to HARO's oversized shape and larger wingspan you end up with a shawl that can be worn and wrapped many ways. Whether it's classic over the shoulders, bandana style (front facing) with the garter folded down into a collar (my personal fave), side wrapped or any other way you'd like to curl up in her - if you pop a shawl pin on it you've got at least 3 other ways to wear it! I even used it as a lap blanket while knitting. It's definitely a comfort shawl.

Hinterland Range's color palette also lends itself for a few different combos for HARO. I'm craving a Honey + Snow version for myself. I can't get enough of that honey color. So pretty!

I hope you find yourself with HARO on the needles relaxed with a smile on your face and in your soul. Lose yourself to the stitches and then relish and curl up in HARO when you are done. Fall weather is here my lovely friends! Yay!

You can find Haro live today on Ravelry, Etsy and Love Knitting (Kollabora coming soon).

Thank you for your support of my designs and I cannot wait to see your versions of HARO. You can find the rest of the Hinterland Straits 2017 Collection featuring designs from Andrea Rangel, Lindsay of Standard Knits and Nat of Wolf and Faun Knits. Enjoy!
