the pics above just summed up my mood so perfectly i couldn't help posting all of them. i don't know about you guys but i'm soaking up every last bit of summer we have left.

we are heading out for.............yep, you guessed it, camping - again!!! oh my! my poor body can only take so much more tenting with a 2 year old! eek! i have been having dreams of owning my own girlified trailer to cuddle up at night in safe from the bears. i'm not sure if i've mentioned this before but i am deathly afraid of bears, so all this tent camping has been wreaking havoc on my nerves. god forbid i have to go pee in the night, it isn't pretty. i pretty much go into full panic mode and freak out....my poor family. last time i camped i sprinted through poor innocent people's campsites and flew in our tent almost knocking it over all because i heard a man snoring and thought it was a bear. oh well, what's a girl to do? i love camping, just not the bears :)

i'm so digging the album wonder by lisa mitchell at the moment. this is a must play for road trips and will surely be blaring from my car's stereo this weekend! our fave is "clean white love", mackenzie dances up a storm to that one! can we say girl crush???

wishing you all a bear free, relaxation filled, grass laying, ocean breeze feeling kind of weekend. see you on monday!

what are your plans for the weekend? any running away from bears?

mommyhood radar - b.poetic

ohhh, lovely, lovely! i came across kaitlin from b.poetic recently and just had to share a bit about her. you all know how i love a great repurpose and boy do i adore these! b.poetic takes vintage fabrics and turns them into the most gorgeous accessories! everything from shoe clips to corsages, and hair pieces to fabric banners, they are all drool worthy!

here's a bit about b.poetic:

Life is short. B. happy. Wear flowers.

"It all started with a little seedling of an idea about some blooms. Grown from a deep love of accessorizing with the good looking stuff from nature, blooms add a pop of color to any outfit, because we know you’re no wallflower."

"Each bloom is handmade from vintage fabrics, sewn together with love, so they each have their own unique little personality. We weed out the rascally ones before we put them in the store, of course. The organic texture of vintage fabrics makes them perfectly imperfect. Each piece comes with its own little poem tag and is hand-cut, constructed and stitched together by me, for you, with love. "

to find more lovely inspiration or pick up a goodie of your own visit kaitlyn on her website, her pretty blog and her store. thanks kaitlin!

what do you guys think?

me and mackenzie are flying solo for one night this weekend. my hubby is off to van for a stag and i'm crossing my fingers he'll drag his cute butt into ikea sunday morning for me. i've been drooling over the new 2010 ikea catalogue!!!! what have you been lusting after at ikea lately?

it's been raining and damp/cold here and i'm missing the 30+ weather already. good thing we got some fall clothes for mackenzie last weekend cause we've been using them all week. i guess it's a glimpse of the endless rain to come...bah! if it weren't so beautiful here in the fall it would be really depressing.

my omi (grandma) is coming to stay with us on sunday for a few days and we're very excited to see her and get lots of grandma/great grandma time. we've been missing her.

i'm wishing you all a wonderful weekend filled with hot tea, umbrellas (or if you're lucky - sunshine), cuddles and lots of girl time laughs.

what are your weekend plans? have you started fall shopping already too?

what's your current obsession?

my birds

i have a wee obsession with wooden/porcelain/china birds. not sure when it started but it did...and man do i luv my birds. they go perfectly with our mix of pine cones, shells and coastal decor. i only have 3, so my home isn't covered in them, but in my mind, i spot them everywhere - stores, mags, & tv. they are so lovely, i would like a few more...maybe some like these (insert my drool):

bone china birds from "have you met miss jones"

coe & waito porcelain birds

the ones i currently own are wood and i would like to add a few different ones to the mix. the problem is, and reason for this post, is that i am having a hard time finding these birds for a reasonable & affordable price. anyone have any tips or leads for me? have any birds you want to sell? let me know....my hubby will kill me, but a few more birds may go unnoticed by his manly eye :)

what's your current obsession? anyone a bird lover like me?

bits of our weekend....

we had a fun weekend even though mackenzie is still feeling under the weather. it's been a bit tough getting things done online when you have a sick toddler. i whipped up a new piece of artwork for our bedroom from a pretty piece of wrapping paper i adore. i scooped on some fun dish towels for $1 each to brighten our kitchen up for the fall, some winter clothes for mackenzie and we finally were able to get our 1940's dresser - we love, love, love it! it was a steal for both the dresser and the mirror for $50!! sure pays off to shop secondhand and barter the price. it was selling originally selling for $150! the dresser is 6'2" and we love every inch of it.

what do you guys think of the dresser? do you like it? what's your favorite secondhand find?

i've had baby wearing on my mind lately as mackenzie grows and we decide if we want to grow our little family and i thought it would be fun to do a roundup of baby carriers available on etsy. i wore mackenzie in a sling starting from when she was a newborn and still do today. we hardly ever used a baby bjorn style carrier as she preferred the sling and i enjoyed being able to breastfeed unnoticed in the sling - yes, you can whip your boob out in all it's glory and nobody can see. trust me, my boob is not a small thing..haha, it's an entity to itself when i am breastfeeding, my girls get huge (i hope some of you can relate)! it was a glorious just to be out and about in a store and breastfeed my child - friggin wonderful!

i swear by baby wearing, it allowed me to do chores, work on the computer, do my hair and a thousand other things i would never have been able to do without my sling. etsy has a wonderful array of different styles, patterns and fabrics as well as a ton of stores willing to do custom work! so stop hauling that babe around and grab yourself a carrier! your boobs will thank you :)

what style carrier to do use? what's your favorite way to wear your baby?
