weekend wishes
the hubs is going to be at school all weekend so this mama is going to be in need of a break come monday...eeek! i tell you this turning another year older made me sooooo sleepy this week. i'm exhausted. i think the excitement of buying Poppy the Pfaff wore me out! then to stare at her all wrapped up all week and not have the time to open and sew with her has seriously been keeping me up at night. i know, weird right? but seriously, i'm dying to just spend a whole day, uninterrupted, to just sew and get to know her. a girl can dream right?
i'll also be working on a few new tutorials, my summer sweater knit along project - you guys are doing awesome by the way, sorry for the lack of knitting posts this week there will be some more knitting love next week, and also some gluten free cooking. i'm on a hunt to stock my pantry and try my hand at some yummy gluten free baking and cooking cause i am STARVING!
i hope you all have a wonderful weekend filled with yummy food, sleep, coffee, laughs, cuddles and crafty goodness!
what are your plans this weekend? any crafting? did you make anything fun this week? do you have a great gluten free resource/recipe to share?
weekend wishes
that's right folks. i'm gonna be another year older on monday. i'll be the big 34. yep. it's scary but not as scary as 35 will be. i have a fear of the mid's. i didn't like turning 25 and i know i'll hate turning 35. something about being mid something. like you're at the hump and it's all downhill into you are in the earlies again. it's irrational, but hey, sometimes my brain works like that. i have nothing planned to celebrate my being born except for causing a ruckus at knit night on saturday. i'm hoping for shots of espresso and some serious table dancing right ladies? j/k (just so you all don't think i'm nuts we have our knit nights at a cafe that is open late and has live music).
the hubby is busy, busy this weekend so i'll be taking care of the kiddos while sleep and caffiene deprived and hoping to get some time to go sewing machine shopping. that's what i'm getting for my bday but i still have to go try some out and pick out my new baby! needless to say i am very, very excited!!!! i'm also a wee bit behind on returning some of your emails (sorry about that) but will catching up with you all soon. i've got some fun stuff planned for next week so stay tuned.
i'm on row 16 of my sweater for the summer sweater knit along!!!!!!!! i can't stop knitting now and have to keep reminding myself to sew. sometimes it's just easier to knit because i can sit with the kids and play and they have no idea i'm secretly very joyous inside because i've tricked them into thinking "mommy's not working" but really i'm knitting. we're women and mothers right? we can multitask amongst the best of them.
i hope your weekends are filled with sleep and lots of it. i hope those of you working along in the KAL get time to relax and knit and those of you sewing get lots of time in stitch bliss :) enjoy the sunshine and your families and have a wonderful weekend. see ya on monday!
what are your plans this weekend? has your toddler suddenly decided it's a newborn again & depriving you of some serious sleep? do you have a newborn? what are you crafting or cooking? let's chat.
Oops - edited to add that we'll also be celebrating father's day round here...in my sad state i forgot. all i can think about is sleep and new sewing machines. selfish momma..haha.
weekend wishes
i'm looking forward to the weekend. the hubs has lots of studying and exams coming up so this is our last weekend without him being gone cramming. we're hoping for some more sunshine so we can get our beach time in when we can. we're also hoping to check out some pirate fun at a local festival this weekend, as well as pool party today and some good friends to hang with tonight to cheer on our fave team - the vancouver canucks of course!!!
i'll be working on getting my legwarmers done at knit night so i'm free to start my sweater for the KAL next week. i've also got a whole bunch of sewing i'm working on and some fun theme days next month coming up! yippee! you excited? i am. lots of sewing and knitting goodness coming your way folks!
what are you up to this weekend? are you watching the stanley cup playoffs too? you a bruins or a canucks fan? what are you crafting? let's chat ladies!
p.s. don't forget to get your entry in for the fabulous knit bot (hannah fettig) pattern giveaway!

hello friends! man have i missed weekend wishes! it was hard to go a whole month without doing this post. i've always enjoyed doing them but now i know how much i really love them :) it was so sweet to hear that you all missed it too! my pics had all piled up and it was hard to choose what to add for this week.
my folks and grandma are still in town and we've been busy visiting & spending as much time with them as we can before they leave on monday. we plan on celebrating my mom's bday, mother's day & harper's bday on sunday with a yummy dinner! i'm super excited to give my mom her bday pressie that my sister and i have been conspiring over. i'm also excited to get my mother's day gift :) don't get me wrong, i don't NEED a pressie but man, it sure is nice to get a little spoiled especially after tax season. i was a bad girl and already went out and bought half of my present...haha, i know...sad isn't it, but i couldn't resist. i'm sure you all have done the same thing one time or another. it was out of fear. i wanted to make sure i got what i wanted which was...you ready....TEA! boring right? oh well, it makes me happy. i wanted a big huge amount of my fave tea - "angelwater" from the fab local shop silk road tea in town here in victoria. i die over this tea. it's like my mommy drug. calms me and eases the chaos we all call motherhood.
our deck is almost ready for the summer i just need to pick up some hanging baskets this weekend and we're good to go. the tomatoes, herbs and flowers are planted and the cushions are out now i just need the sunshine to come! mmmmmm, bring on the bbq and mojitos!!! i can't wait to sit out there in the summer nights with my quilt and laptop and chat with all you folks :)
what are you all up to this weekend? anyone else wishing for something special for mother's day? you out gardening wishing for sunshine? i hope you all have a wonderful, special, relaxing and family filled mother's day! i get to spend mine with my mommy for the first time in a long time with my own two babies so i'm super excited! happy weekend :)

(check out the video too!!!!!!!!!!!! i'm dying i want this book so badly!)
thank god it's the weekend. i'm so happy it's friday today ladies. phew! it's been super busy around here and i've been feeling under the weather. not to give you tmi but i have endometriosis (click here to read more about being a mom & dealing with a chronic illness & about my experiences with endometriosis) and it's just been a rough week for me. i really struggled with it this week and the sad thing is that i've been doing great since having harper and then this month wham! not so fun. on the upside susan sarandon revealed that she has endometriosis and it made my day. i know...that sounds wrong doesn't it? it's not that i want other women to be sick, i just think that it's not something to hide or be ashamed of and that the more celebrity voices we have out there to promote research and finding a cure the better in my opinion. ok...i'll admit it...there's more...susan sarandon rocks and is a tough cookie so the next time i'm having a bad endo day i'm going to channel thelma and louise and kick some endo ass..haha. ok. moving on.
we are in birthday party season around here and we have a party this weekend to go to that i've been happily working on a dress for the pretty little girl who's turning 4. she loves long, swirly, twirly dresses and i thought what better dress to make her than the party dress from the cottage home. love it! i also went out and picked up my first fabric button kit and yes, like i predicted, i am now addicted. how fun is that!!!!!!! i just need more buttons now. anyone have a good resource for buying them in bulk? i got mine at fabricland and they were not cheap. pics to come of the dress next week.
i also want to say a giant, huge, enormous thank you to all of you for reading this blog. i just looked at the calendar yesterday and went oops...there goes year #2 and i forgot to celebrate! anyways i wanted you all to know how much i appreciate each and every one of you, all the friendships i've made, the experiences we've all shared together (good & bad), the joy and happiness this blog brings me and the absolutely wonderful, caring and most entertaining community of crafty women i have ever met. i love you all and i hope we all can share many more years together in the mommyhood! here's to #2! thank you!
so besides sewing, resting, knitting, maybe sleeping, and birthday partying it up..oh..and eating ice cream i think my weekend is looking pretty darn good. how's yours gonna be? have anything exciting planned? any new projects on the go? share...you know i love hearing from you, it makes my day :)

i'm also hoping my back (i hurt my back walking slowly on a treadmill last sunday....ok, fine, it's ok...laugh, i won't be offended, it is sort of funny but also sad in a weird "i think that i hurt myself cause my bra was not holding my breasts up properly kind of way") feels well enough that i can go to the most horrible, yet enjoyable total body conditioning (aka put your body through hell) class that my sister and i go to every sunday morning at 9...eeeek! (this is my one break from the kidlets - have i finally lost it? wtf?) i swear the instructor is a scandinavian she devil. she is awesome and evil and that same time if that's even possible. i continue to go because i have a strong feeling that she has the power to tell my baby belly to hit the road and "don'tcha come back no more no more no more no more..." ok, (sorry broke into song there) and the afore mentioned baby belly would actually listen to her.
what are your plans this weekend? any crafting? i'll be working on my once upon a thread post. any of you doing any baking? bra shopping? fill me in girls...it's friday!!! woot woot!!!
weekend wishes
oh my gosh are you seriously dying over that teatoaster teapot? how cool is that? i feel like breakfast would never be boring with that teapot kicking around. i could definitely use that kind of pick me up in the mornings lately. man oh, man am i tired. pooped. exhausted. worn out. lots of things going on and not enough time to do them all...story of our lives right ladies? we've just had so much stuff happening at home and with the hubby not around and the kids not sleeping...ever...i'm just plain sleepy. sorry to whine a bit, but i just had to get it out of my sleep deprived system.
i'm hoping to see my hubby this weekend. even a few hours would be good. i think i might even sacrifice sleep for it. i'm also hoping to reunite with the sewing machine. i've got a fun project on the go. i'm also working on another project for the blog that has had me wishing for a fairy craftmother. aiayayya, it's had me banging my head but i refuse to give up. i can't wait to show you all the finished products!
next week i've got some fun stuff planned for the blog too! i've got two guest posts of mine going on for monday and a few other goodies lined up! one of them is a tutorial!!! yippee!!! you excited? i hope so. i'm so excited i might just do some more baking and i don't even really like baking. anyone wanna come for coffee and cookies :P
what's your weekend plans? how was your week? i want to know what you're up to! sewing? knitting? crocheting? leave me a comment and let's chat :)
weekend wishes
to keep this color palette going in my home.
well today's weekend wishes almost didn't make it but one of my wishes was to get this post up. they are therapeutic to me and even when life gets really stressful, really busy, really exhausting weekend wishes always seems to cheer me up and give me that extra nudge to make it through the day. i love that you all enjoy this post as well and it's my fave one to do out of the week.
we're pretty sleep deprived in our house right now thus the almost lack of this post. my brain isn't functioning..haha. i fell asleep sitting up staring at my laptop last night. hilarious. i realized it was time to turn it off, regroup and post in the morning because all you were going to get from me was goobily goop, spelling errors and lots of senseless rambling...well there may be a bit of that too today but you all forgive me right?
this weekend is the baby shower a friend and i are planning. i'm so excited! i can't wait to show you all the crafty goodness me and rebecca have been up to! it's been so fun to taunt and torture our friend amy about all the little things we have planned :) i'll be posting next week with some pics and even a little tutorial if you are all interested.
we are into full overtime/tax season swing around here. the hubby has been working every night this week (thus my exhaustion) and will be working both days this weekend as well. so coffee is my friend even more than it's ever been. i think the hubs and i could sleep for a few months straight at this point. i've got lots of sewing, crafting and goodies planned for this weekend and i'm hoping i get at least one thing crossed off my list. we've also got swimming lessons and lots of cuddling when daddy is home to be done.
what are you all up to this weekend? wanna have some tea and chat? any of you sleep deprived this week & flying solos sans hubby? any big crafting plans? wishing you a sleep filled, cozy, warm, snuggly weekend! hugs!

to figure out how the heck to make one of these and eat it...
did ya smile? yeah? good :) cheesy, i know, but cute regardless. it's been a long week for me. feels like one of those weeks that just drags on and on. oh well...the weekend can only get better right? we've got some of our best friends coming from out of town to visit this weekend and we are super excited to see them so most of my time will be spent hanging and catching up with them. i've got a few projects that i have to finish up for a baby shower a friend and i are throwing. i can't wait to show you all the pics but it's going to have to wait because the new mom is a friend of mine who reads the blog and i wouldn't want to give away any of the surprises....right amy?
i've been finding myself fixated on finding doilies at the moment. for some strange reason though i can never seem to find any good ones at my local thrift shops and when i do it's at value village and they are charging way too much for what they are. i have so many projects i want to make right now with doilies.....so i'm sending it out there doilies, wherever you are hiding in some dusty salvation army - peek your head out and say hello ok? i'll give you a nice new home! my fave one that i've been holding onto on my inspiration board is now being stitched onto one of my throw pillows (pics to come soon). now i need to find another one for the other pillow. do you guys heart doilies too?
i think this weekend will be the first time i really am going to miss cable. the oscars are on right? it's going to be weird not sitting in front of the tv ooohing and ahhing over the oscars. i love oscar night. you'll watch for me right?
what are you up to this weekend? any items you're hoping to find thrifting that have been evading you? have any exciting oscar plans? have a wonderful, relaxing, sunshine filled & yummy cookie eating weekend!
weekend wishes
got hit by something flu/cold like and it's knocked me on my tushie. so this weekend i'm hoping to recoup, rest, finish my quilt top, celebrate the hubs bday belatedly and come back with some great goodies for you all during the week including a new roundup!
wishing you all a healthy, fun and restful weekend. what are you all up to? did you get any fun things made this week? new projects added to your lists?
weekend wishes
the word bathing suit instills fear into my heart. the girls are both starting swimming lessons up this weekend and yes, that means i have to go out in public in a bathing suit - eeek! i'm scared. i'm gonna break all the pool rules and run across the deck and get in that darn water as fast as possible. i know, i know, i shouldn't care, but i'm a woman and i do. here's to hoping my girls (aka boobs) fit in my swimsuit in the first place.
we're hoping the endless rain is going to stop this week and break out in some sunshine so we can go frolick along the water and get some pretty pics. i'm looking forward to watching the golden globes on sunday (love seeing the dresses & hair) and i'm also planning on going thrifting this weekend. send your pyrex and vintage sheet vibes my way...it's been a while since i've had a chance to go scour the shops. i hope that means i'm gonna find something good..i've got that feeling.
i'm happy to say that i spent an hour cutting yesterday and it was so much more enjoyable! i actually got the last yard or so relatively straight..haha, and some of them i cut with one slice! so proud of myself. i owe it to all of your wonderful tips. who knew that i was doing it all wrong. i never thought there were would be so much involved with using a rotary cutter properly, but honestly there is. even the process of how to cut it was much easier. i was doing it the hardest way possible. i have a whole renewed faith to being able to quilt again.
it's been one of those weeks where my to do list is way bigger than my time. i have so many fun projects and goals for this blog and just not enough time in my day to get them all going. so frustrating. i think i'm organized but i'm also starting to think i need to revamp my process and schedule to be a tad more efficient for 2011 or i'm never going to get a good chunk of it accomplished and i tell ya, that in itself would make me cry.
so on that topic what do you do to keep your goals and projects organized? do you use a planner? calendar? notebook? what kind of schedule do you use to blog/sew/craft? let's share and of course.....here's wishing you all have a wonderful, relaxing, sleep filled, laughter full weekend.
weekend wishes
we spent a huge amount of our time during christmas break cleaning and purging our little condo. we scrubbed, vacuumed, sorted, sold, bought, reorganized, donated and cleaned some more. it felt great. it would have felt even better if we were done, but we're not. most of what's left to do is mine. my sewing wall revamp is still in progress. the fabrics that were once folded neatly are all in shambles, the ironing board monster has grown since xmas not shrunk, and now my knitting supplies are EVERYWHERE. my knitting basket is ripped and falling apart and after seeing christina's gorgeous knitting basket makeover on "the sometimes crafter" i knew i had to get my butt in gear. i've pleaded with her to make a tutorial for us sewers so we can replicate the one she made, so I'm crossing my fingers. in the meantime i may just attemp to make one on my own.
my biggest problem is my needles. i keep buying more thinking i don't have them (due to the extreme disorganized mess that they are in) only to find i already have them. over the years people have given me needles that they didn't want or need and i have just been too darn lazy to go through and figure out what size they all are. i swear the dpn's and circulars and planning to take over my sewing table. they have raged war against the pins. i think they are gearing up for a rather fiesty match of "comfy sews vs cozy knits - the spring edition". what do you think?
anyhoo, i'm on the hunt for the perfect needle organizer. i've found a lot of tutorials online but none seem to fit all my needs. so ladies, how do you organize yours? did you buy or make your cases? do you have separate ones for the dpn's and circulars or do you have all of them together? i'm not sure what to do here and would love any suggestions or tips you may have. i definitely know i do not want a flip and fold one (where the needles are on both halves of the fabric and you have to fold it in half before rolling it). i have one like that already (secondhand) and i hate it. loathe it. whenever i open it i get attached by a barrage of unsorted needles. it's nasty and i think it hates me.
as you can see i've got knitting on my mind. it's the time of year i think. it's been pouring buckets here and the sky has been grey for days. it makes me just want to stay inside and knit. we've got really good friends of ours coming to stay this weekend and i'm super excited to see them so our weekend will be filled with laughs and good company.
what are you up to this weekend? have you been knitting or sewing? wishing you sunshine, organized craft rooms and the company of good friends. pull up a seat & stay awhile. i've got a coffee here for ya.
holiday edition - weekend wishes
be thankful...
it's my last weekend wishes before 2011! 2011! can you believe it? this year went by so fast and wow, has it been a busy and fun one! i want to thank each and every one of you for reading, commenting, blogging, emailing and for being a part of my life. i adore all of you and truly treasure all the wonderful and special friends i have made through this blog. you all mean so much to me. i wish you all so much happiness and joy for the holidays and the new year. may all your wishes come true!
i'm going to be spending the rest of this month with my family and will be back online on january 5th. i may pop in here or there but things won't be back to normal till then. i'm hoping to get some serious relaxing and family time in while the hubs is on a much needed vacation. until then....Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!!!!!!!!!! see you in 2011!!!!
p.s. don't forget to get your entry in for your very own "infinity & beyond scarf"! click here to enter :)

to share a meal with a great friend this weekend...
to start sewing with more greys...so pretty...
and to get you smiling from the cuteness.
the hubs is writing his exam today....thank god! i'm so excited for this time to be over and to have him home again and for us to enjoy the holidays. ok, and for me to have more time to craft it up..haha. it's been tricky getting the time in with no help at home. how's your xmas crafting going? you as behind schedule as me?
we're planning on checking out the fabulous xmas trees on display at the empress hotel here in victoria, going for dinner at a friends house, me sewing & knitting my brains out, catching up on dexter & a few movies, a girl's only lunch for me and of course, naps :) oh, naps. i miss naps. i need a nap. i sadly underestimated naps when i could still have them.
what are your weekend plans? your wishes? you doing some festively fun things with the family? pull up a chair, i've got some hot chocolate for you...let's chat :)
weekend wishes
keeping this one short and sweet folks. i'm exhausted. there, i said it. i put coffee creamer in my water yesterday and then proceeded to put refrigerated food in the cupboards. i honestly don't know how i'm still functioning, but i am. we're just counting down the days around here until the hubs is done his exam on the 17th. it's like an early xmas. finally, life will return to some semblance of normalcy. i cannot wait. more time to cuddle, to laugh, to stare in awe at our babies, watch a movie, play a game, have a long breakfast, go to bed before midnight, to be able to sew/knit without worrying about the kids....and the list goes on.
i miss the hubs, the kids miss the hubs and he misses us. so after i write this, i'm taking my sleep deprived, momma of a teething baby who's new fave thing is to bite mommas boob & a regular night terror experiencing toddler, who also has a sore hand from hand embroidery & knitting while breastfeeding, that can hardly read this post cause she's so sleepy to bed. ahhhh, bed. wishing you all a restful weekend filled with goodness.
anyone else as tired as i am? you missing your partner? what are you wishing for this weekend?
p.s. don't forget to get your entry in for the sensory store canada clothing giveaway - it's a good one!

hi all! it's midnight as i write this and boy am i tired..haha, what else is new right moms? you all can relate i'm sure. i've got a big craft day planned for mack and i today to get the condo all ready for xmas. we'll be putting up our tree on saturday and she's just bouncing off the walls over the whole christmas thing. the hard part for me has been deciding on what to make for decorations. the list is, as always, bigger than what in reality i can make. i'm also still working on my xmas pressies and have only finished about 1/4 of them...eeek! i got started on my xmas cards though so i'm feeling good about that!
this week has been a long one. after all our snow last week we had a lot of time to relax and be at home, but this week we had to get back to our routine. mack's night terrors have gotten way better this week (thanks for all of your advice) and now it's harper keeping me up with her first tooth about to cut through. it's given me lots of time to sit and daydream over all the lovely holiday decor tutorials all your crafty ladies are making lately! wowsa! it feels like every year this just keep getting better and better. the craft community online is just so inspirational and amazing! i seriously cannot even believe that it's only the first week of december and there are already so many fabulous tutorials out! i'm scared for the rest of the month..haha.
besides crafting, we've got a little special performance to watch of mackenzie's ballet class, maybe some fun xmas activities and of course the tree decorating. i plan to try to get some sewing done on sunday and hopefully, hopefully actually open a book...oh and sleep, yeah, that would be nice...ahhh, sleep.
what's on your "must make" list for holiday decorations? do you have a favorite craft that you make every year with your kiddos? have you been up late with your little ones? wishing you lots of restful sleep and happy craftime!
p.s. don't forget to enter both of our giveaways this week! click here to enter to win a copy of the savvy squirrel coupon book and here to win some fun goodies from the fab knitterella!

we've been snowed in most of the week here. well, snowed in may be a bit of an exaggeration, let's just say, we haven't been able to go out much due to the snow and our city trying really hard to deal with it (or not deal with it). i dislike snow. i might actually hate it. i don't like cold weather. in my daydreams i do. i dream that i can ski with the best of them (i'm scared of skiing due to being a klutz), sip hot cocoa by the fire gracefully (i always spill and have no fire), wear the most fabulous knit sweater and accessories (i look like a fluffy lamb), and sport that gorgeous fresh cheek glow (i get wind burn). so you see, snow and i don't get along. i slip, i fall, i get really cold and can't get warm again. i hate driving in it, i hate others driving in it. i hate cleaning off the car and warming up the engine. i hate wind chill and freezing rain. i will admit though that i love seeing my daughter love snow and won't take that away from her - i just let the hubs take her out in it instead. i also enjoy catching snowflakes on my tongue and making the odd snow angel and ok, getting in a snowball fight. unfortunately though, with all good comes some bad and with snow, well, i'm just done with the bad. i grew up in small town filled with a lot of snow for half the year and...yep, i'm done.
this week has been way more productive for me sewing wise. i got a few things finished and may just make my deadline for mail outs for handmade goodies. i'm crossing my fingers. i hope to get a lot more done this weekend, catch up with a good friend, cuddle up with the family and watch disney's "a christmas carol" with jim carrey, find my anne of green gables dvd, decide which stocking to make harper and work on the surprises i have coming for you all on the blog. what are you guys up to?
any of you have a love/hate relationship with snow? i hope i'm not the only one. fill me in on your plans? what are you making for xmas pressies this year? wishing you a fabulous, no snow filled weekend!
