A romantic yet modern lace cowl that’s perfect for showing off that gorgeous hand dyed yarn you’ve been coveting.
The Downton Cowl is a chevron lace cowl inspired by the castle in the tv show Downton Abbey.
The Downton Cowl uses only (1) skein of yarn, is knit in the round and can easily be made in one evening. It’s a quick project that is both satisfying in it’s design but also fast in it’s execution.

PATTERN INFORMATION
YARN
1 skein Madelinetosh Tosh DK (100% Superwash Merino, 225yds/206m), shown in Glazed Pecan [dk]
NEEDLES
5mm/US8 Circular Needle, on a 24” long cable.
NOTIONS
1 removable marker, yarn needle
GAUGE
17 sts and 25 rows = 4in/10cm in St st worked flat and blocked.
16 sts and 25 rows = 4in/10cm in Downton Lace Pattern worked flat and blocked.
FINISHED MEASUREMENT
Approximately 13.5in/34cm wide and 9.75in/24cm high, flat & blocked.
INSTRUCTIONS
Pattern includes both written instructions and a lace chart. This is a beginner/intermediate pattern. If you've been scared to try lace before this is a great beginner lace project. Don't let it intimidate you. If you know how to do simple increases/decreases, knit in the round and read knitting directions you can do this.
