mommyhood wishes

weekend wishes- better late than never

to get outside & enjoy this gorgeous fall weather before it's gone....

to get started on whipping up some xmas pressies...

to get through some of the books i've been hoarding by my bed...

to help my toddler to get through this phase of night terrors....

to add some more knit decor to my home...

to eat some of these...with some coffee of course...

to hunt down some vintage lace...

to find the time to make a new cozy afghan...

and to have you all comment below which brand of sewing machines is your fave.

yipee, i made it. wasn't sure weekend wishes was gonna happen today, but harper finally napped - poor little thing with her faucet nose. this weekend i would love for my toddler to sleep one night without waking up with a bad dream or night terrors (any tips for night terrors?) and for both of them to be healthy and coldless (word?). i'm hoping to get some sewing/knitting projects checked off my list, get some work done on the instruction booklet for the "infinity & beyond scarf" tutorial, read, get some exercise (ha!), & find a dress for an upcoming xmas party that actually hides my post baby belly and still fits over my girls (aka boobs). what about you guys? what are you up to?

off topic, i've been having some conversations on twitter (follow me @inthemommyhood) about which brand of sewing machine is your fave to use. there have been some wonderful suggestions & tips but i thought i would put it out there for you all to chat as well. i'm sure i'm not the only one dreaming of santa replacing my 11 year old machine (buffy, i hope santa brings you one). i get overwhelmed just thinking of starting to narrow down my choices so i'm researching the brains out of it before i go in the store. we also talked which brand of sewing machine we don't like hoping to narrow down brands that way as well.

so chat away ladies...let's talk sewing machines and maybe some sleep tips for me on night terrors (pretty please?). hope you all have a wonderful, crafty, fun-filled weekend & don't forget to get your entry in for the "bobaloo giveaway" - fab prize! see ya on monday!

*ps - to those of you new to the blog, i try to respond to your comments in the comments section. i enjoy others being able to see the conversation and join in. please don't think i'm ignoring you if you don't get an email from lil'ol me. while i do sometimes email readers most of the time i address questions back in the same comment section. feel free to chat amongst each other as well :)

weekend wishes

to make slippers from this week's roundup to keep my tootsies warm...

to use a crocheted blanket in a whole new way....

to get my hands on one of these pyrex striped bowls......

that you all have a lovely weekend.

gobble, gobble, gobble! happy thanksgiving to all you canadian folks this weekend! are you going to be eating up some turkey? we're doing ham in the slow cooker, it's my hubbies delicious recipe. so good! don't you just love slow cookers? i think the slow cooker is underestimated and underused a lot. there are a heck of a lot of things that can be made in a slow cooker. yummy. now i'm hungry..haha.

this weekend we are going to enjoy the 3 day long weekend, firstly to be thankful for all that we have been blessed with and secondly because it's our last weekend before the hubs begins intensives studies again as well as full time accountant hours. eeekk! can you hear my shrieks? i'm scared. freaked out. we're hoping all of the home organization we are doing and streamlining of our home and routines will help me out since i will be alone with the 2 girls a lot. any of you have hubbies with long hours or ones that are away a lot? what do you do to help deal with the daily routines?

we've had some gorgeous weather here lately, it's been warm, but also crisp. the leaves are starting to fall and my pine cone obsession will be topped up for holiday decorating time. i love me some pine cones. they are all over my house. i put them everywhere. i think i'm going to try a pine cone garland this year, it's one of the decor projects on my list for a long time now. all the weather changes have had me longing for tea, hot chocolate and my knitting needles. this could be bad news for our comfy sews VS. cozy knits....i'm still not sure which way i'll side but as of right now, the knit slippers won me over.

i hope you all have a wonderful weekend and thanks for all of your wonderful home remedy tips yesterday - they were fabulous and so sweet of you to take the time to tell me them. i'm going to try some this weekend and hopefully our little house of colds will be no more.

what are your plans for the weekend? what's fall making you crave? will you be knitting, sewing or both? come share your thoughts, you know i love hearing what you are all up to!

weekend wishes

to get the needles out for my first fall knit......

to one day meet the person who would put this at their front door...so funny...

to get my hands on one of these for harper to wear for halloween.....

to eat and drink of one of these and not gain a pound......

in the words of rachel zoe (who i'm shamefully addicted to) "I. Die."......

to be able to one day turn one of my old skirts into such a cute dress.....

to be daring enough to have a pretty blue fridge.....

to get you to smile at the little piggy....

to find another font lover to obsess over this print with me....

and to magically make this chair appear in less than a 15" width to fit under my sewing desk.

oh..and i couldn't resist posting these lovelies for all you tea party lovers. how cool is this?

it has been a loooooong week. a week with not enough sleep, but what else is new right? it's been a fun week, but a tiring one. lots of late nights blogging, but lots of funny conversations happen during the late night blogging hours...right dana? it's all worth it. i heart the fact that i'm not the only one sitting around in my jammies late at night when the kids & hubs are asleep, working on my blog, smiling with a grin ear to ear and enjoying the calm....ok, and some rachel zoe project reruns....LOVE. I. Die. ok, ok, i'm done, i can't help myself, it's so addicting.

this weekend is going to be filled with sleep and if that doesn't happen coffee and lots of it's yumminess. maybe a skinny vanilla latte? or a pumpkin spice latte? mmmmm, i'm frothing at the mouth already. i've got to get the hubs to put up my new shelf and then i will hopefully be busy organizing fabric and gathering paint swatches. i'm scared of that desk though, diy projects like that make me darn nervous. anyone wanna come do it for me? j/k...no, maybe, i'm not....

so what are your plans this weekend? anything fun? are any of you sleep deprived? if you blog when do you do your blogging - evening or daytime? are you up late like me savoring the quiet time after a busy day?

weekend wishes

to get my hands on this quilt block...........

to start whipping out some new handmade scarves...and then sport a scarf bow this fall.....

to find some material to match this color scheme......

to finally get my hands on some antique lace....

to have a heckuva lotta fun at this place on sunday.....

and then find some of these to put on my inspiration board....

ok, no wish for this pic except to hear you all chuckle.....

(sorry, can't find the link)

to share one of these with mackenzie......

to freak some people out with this.........

the hairdresser in me wants to figure out a way to get my hair into this hairstyle.

hi all, how's your week going? any fun plans this weekend? i'm super excited about mine! i'm off to ikea!!!! ahhhhhhhhhhh! we've got a van, we've got some girls, one cute baby and we're going on a super ikea sized adventure! it's gonna involve girl chat, coffee, ferries, shopping and lots of fun. i'm so excited to get the revamp of my "sewing wall" in gear! i still haven't decided on the desk but i will keep you all posted on that. i'll be posting pics as i go through the process. anyone suggest a fave ikea fabric while i'm there? i haven't been in ages - what's your fave?

this week has burnt me out so i'm gonna go curl up on the couch with my baby girl, who is currently singing to us (imagine gizmo from the gremlins in a cute way) and my hubby and enjoy all the good tv on tonight. bring me some big bang theory, bad haired donald trump and some funny 30rock and i'm a happy girl. then i am going to attempt to go to bed early. i always say that and it never happens, but tonight i'm gonna try. oh ,and if any of you have sent me emails this week and are awaiting replies, bear with me. the inbox has taken over and i'll be trying to catch up soon.

what are you trying to catch up on this week? any fun plans this weekend? fave new tv show you caught? (did y'all hear netflix is finally in canada - super excited!) let's have a chat over...hmmmmm.....maybe a pumpkin spice latte? yeah.....that sounds delicious. get out your fave mug....and come on in, i've got one here for you too.

weekend wishes

to snuggle up with family........

we've got family in town visiting. my nana and papa. i heart when family comes to town. i'm from a small town up north where most of my family all lived. it's a weird transition, that i still haven't fully grown out of, to go from having your loved ones 5 minutes away to 2 days away. i grew up with both sets of grandparents at every birthday, at school events and pretty much any other celebration or important event in my life. looking back at my childhood they have always been there. i've been very lucky.

it does sadden me though that my girls won't have the same kind of experiences. the hubs and i make a huge effort to have our families be a huge part of our daughters lives and memories even though they aren't here in person all the time. thanks to technology, this is a lot easier nowadays. we can chat on the phone, share photos, videos, web chat (if we ever get around to it..haha), blog, vlog and pretty much share our lives with our loved ones. so this weekend i plan on hanging with my family and cherishing my girls getting a chance to snuggle in close and feel the love that only great-nana's and great-papa's can give. of course, i may sneak in there too. you're never too old for hugs from the grandparents :)

what are your weekend wishes this weekend? do you live far away from your family? did you grow up with your grandparents in the same town or city?

p.s. missing all the family - luv you guys :)

to get my crochet and knitting needles out..........

to one day have such a wide assortment of vintage sheets.........

to make a point of remembering this when i am having a bad 'endo' day.......

to get this read this weekend (can't wait)...........

to find more lovelies made from buttons............

to keep remembering the motto of this week.........

and yes, i know i'm getting obsessed, but i keep dreaming about hunter boots....so perfect for the coast weather.....why are they so darn expensive :(

this is gonna be a quick writeup for weekend wishes, sorry guys. we had a super duper busy day today, i'm pooped, the toddler went to bed very late, the hubby was out at a meeting and baby girl is just being too darn cute tonight. squishably cute, the i want to just lay there and coo and stare at her in awe cute. so tonight i'm gonna have some family time. hope you guys understand :) a mom's gotta do what a mom's gotta do. i need to soak up some of those baby kisses and cozy hugs and then get some spooning in with the hubs.

my weekend is going to be pretty relaxing...i hope. i think i plan on getting a nap in somewhere...ohhh, wouldn't that be so nice...a girl can dream right? a good book, cup of tea and a nap - it would be like winning the lottery! throw in some family time and sewing and we've got ourselves a great weekend.

what are you all up to? any fun family plans? did you have a chance to stop and focus on the little things this week? what was your fave? mine was harper's first full out laughing fit...so precious :)

weekend wishes

to remember these words to live by........

to find these fantastic popsicle molds.........

to simplify and streamline our home for when the hubs starts school again....

to get ready to enjoy the change of seasons and to embrace fall.

(these are chocolate acorns!!!)

we've got a long weekend on monday (yippee) so i won't be back till tuesday. after the last few weeks an extra day with the hubs home is a wonderful, wonderful thing! we plan on maybe going to an outdoor fair, an antique/collectibles/vintage fair (hunting for pyrex, buttons & other goodies), a concert by the ocean, cleaning, purging and cleaning some more. mixed in with some sewing, ok, hopefully lots of sewing, cuddles, friends, laughs and lots and lots of coffee...oops, i mean fun (you all know i hope i get a bit of sleep in there too).

we also plan on taking some pics this weekend and trying to capture a shot of our 3 year old who thinks lately that she is a "unicorn, fairy, princess horsie" (her wording). she's so obsessed with the idea of being a unicorn, fairy princess horsie that i made her a horn yesterday...ahahah, i'm still laughing about it and can't stop. i took a toilet paper roll and wrapped and taped some construction paper around it in a cone shape with a point on top and then put two holes in the bottom of the roll and slipped a matching headband in it. she won't take it off. ahhh, the little moments right? so adorable and hilarious at the same time. she now runs around making horse noises and insisting she doesn't have to eat dinner or go to bed because unicorns don't have to. too cute (hopefully pics to come).

what are your plans this weekend? any funny things going on with your kids this week? do they have a favorite thing they imagine themselves to be? happy weekend wishing!

weekend wishes

to be able to help a close friend heal...........

to whip myself up a pair of these....so cozy...

to teach my daughter this by believing it about myself...........

that i will one day find this table and bring it home with me.....

to be able to get out thrifting for these lovelies......oh yes, i want more...

to finally find a bike for mack after looking since april.....

to remember to do this more often.......

that some other people are loving this show as much as i am...i need a "plain mommy" makeover...

that you are all enjoying teacup month as much as i have organizing it.

what a week. aiayaya. i'm glad it's over, but also sad to see august is almost at an end. where the heck did summer go? we had a better day yesterday and a lot of that had to do with your sweet comments on wednesday's post. you guys are the best. thank you so much for all of your kind words. hugs to all of you who were also having a crappy, bad mommy day :)

this weekend i plan to go shopping for some fabrics and a few notions to get caught up on my sewing to do list and maybe a little surprise for the site! tomorrow (sat) i'm excited to announce that i will also be returning as a guest on the "real parenting" radio show on C-FAX 1070 with host amy bronee at 10:30am so tune in! if you aren't in victoria you can also stream the show from the C-FAX website.

the hubs finally finished school until october now. man, oh man, am i tired and so is he. it's nice to know he doesn't need to do homework at night or study on the weekend...it's just family time. mackenzie has been having some issues with the phone this week and i've decided it's time to nip it in the bud. do any of you have any tips to try out for when your 3 year old transforms into the devil as soon as your phone rings? i'm serious, it's scary...she is not my child when i am on the phone...hahaha, and then i swear as soon as i hang up she wants nothing to do with me. what the heck is that all about???

what are your weekend wishes? any fun plans? i plan to do a bit more thrifting this weekend if i get the time. if any of you are readers that live here in victoria, bc where is your fave place to go on the hunt? i'm getting tired of the overpriced goodies at value village. don't get me wrong, it's fun going there, but i have to admit the prices just get higher and higher every time i go. i still feel new to victoria and don't know of many other good secondhand shops (the salvation army's i've been in have been horrible). i'd love it if you could share your favorite haunts....

p.s. i hope you all have a wonderful weekend and thanks for all your comments last week about the cable dilemma. we are still undecided....but i'm leaning in the direction of cancelling. your thoughts all helped a lot.

weekend wishes

to feel this way every week............

to remind myself of this everyday...........

to have time to read this many books......

to remember to just hang out & enjoy the view......

to still get goosebumps from my hubby when i'm 92.....

to find some new pyrex to add to my collection....

to see a fence as pretty as this in my neighbourhood.....

to one day get myself a pair of these boots.....

and to see what will be more of my fave moments on mad men this season (this is the funniest one since the john deere incident).

what a week. i'm pooped. tired. taking care of a sick toddler a 3 month old and myself (still not feeling 100%) has made for a very, very long week. hopefully the weekend will make up for it. mackenzie is feeling a bit better but her fever keeps coming and going. time to see the doctor.

i had some excitement last weekend that i didn't get a chance to mention on the blog. i got to be on the radio!!! i was invited to go on the show "real parenting" on C-Fax 1070 with host amy bronee to do a segment on filling in the blanks about parenting - ex. "if i didn't have kids i would "blank" more. it was lots of fun to do and let me tell you, the moment i stepped into the booth and put those headphones on i said to myself that i need to do it again. i loved it.

i think the icing on the cake was when the hubs picked me up (him & the kids listened to the show in the car) and mackenzie said "mommy you sounded beeeeaaauuutiful"! i got to share the airwaves with tabitha, co-creator of the "savvy squirrel coupon book" here in victoria. if you don't have one of these handy little booklets and live in town go pick one up. i've got one and boy is it filled with goodies galore! click here to find out more and get saving some pennies.

i hope this weekend brings me a little bit of r&r, boy do i feel like i need it. i've got some reading planned with a book i've been dying to finish and hopefully a date with my sewing machine. of course, i'm also hoping to have a yummy coffee from somewhere other than my kitchen, a breakfast made by my handsome hubby, and lots of cuddles with my 3 yr old and 3 month old....now that's what i call a good weekend.

totally off topic, i'm wondering how many of you don't have cable and your thoughts on it. we're trying to decide if we want to cancel our cable, not because we hate tv, but we would rather watch movies and shows we already have and find ourselves watching most of the shows we enjoy online now. i'd love to hear your thoughts.

p.s. don't forget to get your entry in for our "magpie patterns back to school giveaway"! great patterns to be won!

weekend wishes

to be somewhere romantic like this..........

to make you smile from the cuteness oozing out of this pic......

to get started on my next quilt......

to do a crossword...i heart a good crossword.

ahhhhh, it's friday. tgif. i'm sooo happy it's the weekend. this week has crawled by so slow it seems. i wasn't feeling too great yesterday so i'm hoping today is a better day. this weekend in victoria is supposed to sunny and hot. i'm a bit worried for how hot it's going to be in our condo, but i also want to bask in the sunshine and soak it in before the rain starts.

we've got plans to hang out with some good friends for some backyard bbq and pool splashing time. i'm excited to photograph all the kiddos running wild in the yard. i've also been sewing a few gifts for my besties that i hope to unveil to them there as well. i hope to get some pics of them up next week or so. then we're thinking of heading out to check out a local band, jon and roy, that we've been grooving to, that are playing a free show right near the ocean on sunday - how's that for coastal? i just hope there's a bit of shade or i'm a no go. i fry like a lobster in the sun, i guess i'm a spf 60 kinda gal.

the rest of my weekend will hopefully entail a bit of r&r, chores (bah), laughs, coffee....yum...coffee, tea cup hunting online - i've got lots of goodies in store for our tea cup month, and hopefully some sewing. i didn't get a chance to sew at all this week and it's been killing me....i swear i can hear my machine cry at night it's so lonely. the dust is accumulating.

so what are your weekend plans? anything fun? how did you like the first week of tea cup month - anything you'd like to see? what are you sewing this weekend?

weekend wishes

that my daughters will develop a love for photography as much as the hubs & i do.......

that i could get away with wearing knee highs with pretty red shoes.......

that i can get started soon on my goal to give only handmade gifts for xmas this year......

to play some cards with the hubs (and of course win).......

to get some good ol' cat naps in...........

to get my daughter to let me braid her hair like this.............

to finally find a lavender plant in this city of mine (everyone is always sold out).....

and to get back to san francisco again one day.

this week was an interesting one to say the least. good ol'gisele sure stirred up some chatter here in the mommyhood, i'm getting used to my new laptop (first one i've ever had), i swear my 11 week old is teething (yikes), i'm finally figuring out how to use twitter and yes, i will admit that i even looked up an online twitter dictionary to figure out what the heck people were talking about, and we've received some lovely surprises in the mail.

we love mail in our house. don't you? and before you start thinking i mean email i actually mean snail mail. my daughter and i live for the mail. we love going down to the box in our condo to check to see if the mail has come. the best days are when the buzzer phones up and it's the mail person delivering a parcel. now don't get me wrong, i don't' shop a lot, and this doesn't happen all the time, but lately we have gotten a lot of lovely gifts in the mail and boy oh boy, has it been fun. i promise to tell you a bit more about some of them in the next few weeks.

this weekend i plan on getting caught up on chores..boring, i know, but definitely needed. after our long weekend last week i let a few things slide. i have a weird obsession with keeping on top of the laundry since the baby was born and now i know why it developed. it's a friggin nightmare when i get behind a day. i just can't seem to be able to get caught back up. but besides the usual household fare i'm hoping to get some home made salsa whipped up to go with some yummy hummus and to also bake some lemon blueberry muffins. yum. we've been on the hunt around town for some popsicle holders (the forms you use to make popsicles) because all of a sudden i cannot find them in my tiny apartment. weird. poor mackenzie has been whining for frozen yogurt popsicles for over a week now. any tips anyone?

on a side note i won a prize this week! i am sooo excited. i never win anything. i won a copy of the new book "stitch by stitch" by the talented deborah moebes of whipstitch. yippee! cannot wait to get my sew happy hands on a copy! have any of you signed up for the "sewing buddy project" going on over at whipstitch? deborah has so lovingly arranged a way to match all of us ladies who sign up with a virtual sewing buddy! she's got lots of fun things planned for the project. so far we've been matched up, gotten to know our buddies by doing a special pdf filled with fun questions and our first sewing quiz for prizes! so exciting, i love this kind of stuff. so my partner (dusty you're the best) and i kicked butt and won! woot woot! i totally thought i got all my answers wrong, oh, except for the one about project runway, that i knew, so it was exciting to have gotten them right. thanks for putting this all together deborah - you rock! you can read more about the sewing buddy project here and you can sign up for a buddy of your own here.

what are your plans for the weekend? any of you going to be schlepping through chores like me? any special baking going on in your household? fill me in :)

weekend wishes

to add some adorable pot holders to my "must make" list this year.....

to remember what peace and quiet was and how it feels to be alone in my thoughts......

{J.Crew : Mona Johanesson}

some snuggle time with the hubby that lasts longer than 1 minute............

to get my sore butt off the cheap ikea chair from 10 years ago that i sew on & find a new one..........

to find my dream wooden thread/spool holder...........

spend some time in the sunshine outside of my aparment.........

to actually visit my "happy place".

hi folks! it's weekend wishes time! did you miss it? i did! i always look forward to friday's post because i have so much fun putting it together and hearing all your comments. i'm hoping it's just like getting back on a bike for me when it comes to my old blogging routine. it's been a few months and having guest posts is definitely not the same as blogging full time myself - so bear with me.

we've got a long weekend here in sunny ol' british columbia (canada) and i managed to bat my eyelashes at the hubs enough to get him to take a day off so we get 4 days off together! holy moly! talk about a miracle! i cannot wait. this week has felt super long, not sure why, but it's dragged. i'm looking forward to some actual family time - not errand running time.

having 2 kids instead of one sure makes it a lot tougher for me to get out during the week to get grocery shopping and errands done, so we have been saving them for the weekends lately and it sure sucks...bah. our weekends have turned into chores and groceries. not fun. this weekend we plan on bbq'ing with friends, relaxing, sunbathing, the hubs is doing some golfing and i'll be playing with and trying to figure out the new laptop. i cannot wait. bring on the leisurely breakfasts, sleeping in, relaxing....oh wait, who am i kidding here...i've got kids & a husband! ok, bring on the 5:00am wake up, dirty diapers, breastfeeding, toddler antics, laundry doing, dishes, dusting, baby snuggles, laughter, dress up & storytime and all around how wonderful is this time :)

i, of course, also plan to relish in the newest season of mad men and project runway. i'm saving them to enjoy on the weekend when i have help with the littlies and am not blogging or sewing at night. oh, and don't worry, i'm still working on that tutorial, it's just gonna take me a while. hopefully i'll get sometime to work on it. because of the long weekend there prolly won't be a post on here till tues or wed. i'm taking a much needed day off too :) hope you all have a happy weekend!

what are your weekend wishes? any of you die hard PR fans too (i've been watching project runway australia to fill the void)? any fellow b.c. folks doing anything special for the long weekend? come chat!

no baby for us yet and it was looking like i was going down the overdue route but cross your fingers for me...we've had some action last night that started things moving...thanks to our fave hockey team the Vancouver Canucks playing their frustrating, tv yelling, swearing, and finally leaving the room mad as heck playoff game! things are still progressing and we are hoping the little bean makes it's appearance soon!

i wish all of you a wonderful, loving, fun, laughter filled, relaxing, pampering, mom filled mother's day! big hugs to all of you and i'll be keeping you all posted on how we're doing as we await our new bundle of joy!!!!

to ride a bike again and feel the wind in my face.........

today is a special day. we love april 30th in our house. it's the end of tax season, the end of lonely nights without my hubby coming home from work until 2:00am, from my daughter telling me she misses daddy 3 times a day, to me crossing days off the calendar until this day comes along....the list goes on. all in all, it's a happy day in our house.

yesterday i got to experience having a maid come clean my home for the first time in my life. it was needless to say, fabulous!!!! thanks for the pressie honey! it was great to sit and not worry that i can't bend over anymore to scrub my tub, or clean my kitchen floor or that i couldn't stand to not be able to keep the house all together on my own anymore. little bean - it's a good time to come now! the house is clean and dad's home from work till tuesday!

i'm now on the home stretch coming up on 40 weeks next week. the braxton hicks are still vying to be my clingy best friend, keeping me in pain and up all night but not helping me to dilate any farther than 1 cm! damn you! i'm staying positive though and hoping the wee one doesn't need to be induced like my first girl. your big sister really wants to meet you and so do we, so come on out and join the family!

i'm excited for you to all join in on the "babyhood bonanza" starting next week. I'll be busy this weekend getting things organized here on the site, getting my deck all flowered up with pretty lovelies, yummy herbs, cushions and all other spring/summer decor that makes me long to sit outside and sip mojito's, mackenzie's going to little league with dad and i get the house to myself for 2 hours!!!! sounds pretty good to me.

what are you lovely ladies up to this weekend? are you getting ready for the warmer weather? any plans to enjoy some "me" time without the kids this weekend?

it's been a weird week. a week filled with pain but no labour, a nagging tiredness, a longing to be able to wear my cute maternity dresses but not dare expose my swollen ankles, legs & feet, excitement over being 1cm dilated and then being nervous the rest of the week waiting for real labor to start or worrying if i am going to have to be induced again this time round, feeling like i can hardly move around anymore and having to rely on awesome mom friends to take care of my child when we are out in public (you guys are the best!) and missing my hubs while i puttered away putting together that mother's day roundup late at night. overall, it was a pretty good week. less tantrums=happier mommy.

not too much going on in my weekend. i plan on resting as much as i can (tricky i know), getting some sewing done, getting stuff organized for all the fun stuff that's going to be going on here on the mommyhood when i'm on baby leave, starting the countdown till my folks get here and hoping i get to see my hubby even if it is only for dinner. one more week and tax time is over - i can do it, i can do it, i can do it....i can make it, i can make it....i can't wait!!!

how was your week? any fun weekend plans?

that i could grab these out of my computer and eat all of them....yep, every single one folks...

my little girl is turning 3 next week. i cannot believe it. i've got a new one coming and my other one isn't a baby anymore....i think the horomones are kicking in....insert my tears here. i was looking at her the other day and it was like looking at another person - where did those longer feet come from, where's your baby chub (or what you did have of it), how did your legs grow so much in a week or two that your pants don't fit anymore, when did your face start to look like a little lady instead of my toddler? eeeekkk! i can't take it, it seems like yesterday i was breastfeeding her and reading sandra boynton board books and now we're having serious discussions and contemplations about why we can't name the baby after the little mermaid. oh my.

anyhoo, it's her bday and she has requested a tennis themed party. what you say? tennis? not princesses, not ballerinas or fairies but tennis? yep. my kid loves sports, and thankfully she has developed a love for tennis. i'm over the moon about it. tennis is my fave sport and i'm super excited to have my little girl love it as much as me and her daddy do.

she's over the moon to get her pink tennis racket and pink tennis balls for her bday....i keep hiding them in the house and the darn kid keeps finding them telling me she has to practice. too cute. so cross your fingers for me that the baby doesn't come before the party, that her tennis ball cupcakes turn out and i don't burn them and that no kids are injured during some of the activities that i have planned to entertain a group of about 18 adults and 6 kids in my tiny 2 bedroom condo.....have i lost my mind? yep...those horomones are kicking in for sure.

what are your plans for the weekend? any bdays causing tears on your end or am i the only one gettin' emotional over here?

p.s. don't forget to check out our sponsors who help keep the mommyhood a friendly neighbourhood to be in :) they are those lovely little boxes in the sidebar to your right.....go ahead click on one. they are some of my fave ladies, go say hi and ogle some of their lovely, lovely goodies.

weekend wishes

i wish i could be doing this right now to erase the stress of this week.....

to have the energy to get all the posts i have planned done before the baby comes....(there will be more preggers pics of me to come soon)

to jump in this pic and bring home all that yummy wool and that cozy blanket....

to find the time to reflect on this pregnancy and really relish in the special moments of the last few weeks that i will be pregnant....

to not have anymore nightmares about keys and the lack of keys for locked doors....

to enjoy the sunshine and a warm breeze.....

and to actually get to spend time with my other half that's way longer than an hour here and there.

it's been a rough week, a few rough weeks that is. i miss my hubs. i miss him a lot. our daughter misses him and his lack of presence is missed in our house. the laughs aren't as loud, the dinners aren't as yummy, the bathtime/bedtime routine isn't nearly as fun, and we both keep finding ourselves looking for him. i call him too much at work to whine and to tell him that i love him and asking when are you coming home, when i know he isn't and he can't but i still ask anyways.

does it mean i'm weak? nope, just in love..and very, very pregnant. ok, and hormonal and sappy...haha. oh well, what's a preggers to do? we'll get through it, we always do. damn you tax season. you make life hard but you also make life good. without the paycheck it just wouldn't be worth it :) we love you hun. thank you for working so hard and for making such a good life for us. xoxoxo.

ok, i'm done with my mushy gushy stuff. couldn't help myself. i'm going to be without the hubs all weekend so i really don't have much going on except for the above paragraph..hahaha. oh, and praying that my feet can't possibly swell any bigger than they already have and to be able to throw a kick butt bday party for my little girl next weekend without going into labor.

what are you missing this week? do you have an "absent spouse"? any of you doing fun things that i can live vicariously through you? share girls, share :)

image via luvinthemommyhood

well the hubs is working all easter weekend, no holidays for accountants..haha. we are planning to spend a pretty quiet easter this year. i'm too exhausted and worn out to attempt to do more than a simple egg hunt and some candies. no early labor for this momma!

i've got a pretty summer dress to finish up for a pretty little girl's bday party this weekend, and some bags to pack for the hospital, car seats to install, baby clothes & goodies to be washed and folded, and a maid to find! yipeee!!! yep, you heard me right! the hubs is getting me a maid to come in once at the end of April before the baby makes it's arrival to do some chores around the house. god knows our house needs it! this is the best gift he could give me at the moment! thanks hun, love you!

i hate not being in control of our house, but i just can't keep up right now no matter how i feel, between my back and the belly there's just no give. so unless this bean wants to come early this momma's gotta take it easy. it's been a bit tricky trying to find an affordable, eco-friendly, non-chemical using maid though.

in the meantime, i hope you guys have some yummy easter fun and enjoy your families!

what are you up this weekend? any special plans? know of a kick ass eco-friendly maid in my area (victoria, bc) that won't break my wallet?

p.s. don't forget to enter the giveaway for "the cottage mama". you've got till saturday night to enter. here's the link :)

weekend wishes

to finish the little beans stroller blankie and then wrap myself up in it (heck i may end up using it more than the kid will)......

get started (and finish) a few sewing projects that have been on the back burner now that i have some new fun fabric.....

that i had found this image earlier so i could have decked myself out in this image.........

to be able to play my guitar again one day and to play it floating weightless in the air instead of being weighted down with what feels like a 25 pound baby.......

image via angelically

to maybe, just maybe give in to my craving for ice cream and sprinkles......

image via beautiful gravity

oh, and of course, to turn off for earth hour and hope that everyone else does too.

i'm hoping this weekend is filled with at least one nap, a tiny bit of alone time, sewing without having my feet swell up, picking up a ton of much needed baby supplies, having the hubs help me with some chores, family time to help deal with my daughter missing her daddy so much, and of course, no back pain or early labor.

we attended our local hospital tour the other night and i swear i thought it was going to kill me...haha. pregnant women in their third trimesters should not be made to waddle around for 45 minutes and stand still in one spot for a big chunk of it. between that, the stress of some news we found out about the amenities of our local hospital combined with the last few weeks was enough to get me thinking i was going to go into labor last night. thankfully i was finally able to get a massage today and have a little time to de-stress.

what are you up to this weekend? any of you have any tips on helping kids deal with their dads working tons all of a sudden....i could use some help? have you been disappointed in your hospital before your due date?
