I finally got around to getting a pic of this lovely Snow Crocus sweater by Midori Hirose I finished ages ago! Fall weather is here - yay!
I really enjoyed knitting this one! It was totally different than anything I’ve ever made myself before and I’m so happy with how it turned out. I used up some lingering stash and learned some new techniques too! I had never done a saddle shoulder before so knitting Snow Crocus was a fun way to finally try it! I love how Midori Hirose has all the lovely shaping still flow into the stitch and cable patterns! Makes my designer heart so happy!

So I'm turning 40 this year and I thought it would be fun to tackle my "I'd love to learn..." list! One of the top things that I've been wanting to finally get the courage up to learn is steeking! Yep - you got it! The dreaded cutting of our knitting! It sounds and looks scary but also fun! I remembered when I first learned to sew I thought zippers and buttonholes would scare me forever...but guess what - they aren't so bad once you learn. So once I reminded myself the same goes for steeking I knew I could do it.
But who wants to learn to do something a bit scary and intimidating alone? Not me! It's always more fun to have friends for support, people to learn from, lean on, and laugh & cry with! So Andrea of Drea Renee Knits and Caitlin of Boyland Knitworks and I are teaming up to take on the steek! We're going to have a EEK stEEk-along!!! That's right! I love knitting top down garments. I also love my hand knit garments to fit great so when Quince & Co. released their latest book - Top-Down: Reimagining Set-In Sleeve Design by Elizabeth Doherty I literally did a happy dance around my office! Top down garments with the look and fit of conventional set-in sleeves? Yes please!!!

Last fall I went after all sorts of dreams. I just bit the bullet, closed my eyes and hit send...on more than one occasion.
One of them was to submit a design for the new Scarves etc. 2014 Collection for Quince & Co. Now if you read the blog and know me you know how obsessed I am with Quince & Co. It was a DREAM of mine to be published by them and I'm so EXCITED to say now that's it's one that has come true!!!!

To design with their yarns is always a joy and to have one of my design/styling/photography icons - Carrie Bostick Hoge, photograph/style my pattern...I swear I almost fainted! I honestly jigged around the house yelling like a loon with my kids staring on thinking this is it...mom's finally lost it! I have had to pinch myself on numerous occasions!
