I recently finished 2 new sweaters over the summer! While the first one (shown above) didn’t turn out as intended the new wearer (my daughter) loves it!
Helpful tip.…..always, always, always check your needle size after you start a project. Lesson learned the hard way over here lol. Insert major facepalm.
So I knit what was going to be my new fave black sweater earlier this summer. I had this heathered black wool saved in my stash for years awaiting the perfect project for it. Swatch was a go so I cast on happily and knit the whole thing.
I then bound off excitedly while on a trip visiting my friend Betsy. Tried it on and realized it was wayyyy too small!!!! Turns out I had picked up the wrong needles after swatching and my XL ended up closer to a S 🤣😂😂.
Blessing in disguise - after I of course got over all the feels - was that it fits my youngest and she loves it! Win!
I promptly cast on for my own (shown below) and love mine as well. So friends, once you cast on for a new sweater (and you’ve swatched) always, always, always double check you’re using the right needles!
💗 Anybody else done this?? Pop over to my original Instagram post to read the comments. I definitely don’t feel alone in my oopsie anymore.

Add in gradients and speckles and you've got a great way to show off your personality in your knitting. My newest pattern - ATMEN, is fabulous for doing exactly that and for using leftovers, showing off custom palettes and for mixing up colors and having some fun!
I recently was lucky enough to get back to visit one of my fave yarn shops - Churchmouse Yarns & Teas in Bainbridge Island, WA. You can find these color palettes all for sale HERE on the Churchmouse website. You can also purchase lovely printed pattern booklets of ATMEN both online and in their shop as well.
